Another mental day but a lot more productive than Firday past. We visited the Britannica Panoptical in the Trongate. It was fucking amazing. So good. The place is still in it's orginal state from years ago like a proper old music hall. There was so much atmosphere in the place. You could almost hear the music and the noise of the audience. It felt so much more real than a museum. I'm not sure why but I felt like I was actually back in time. There was cigarette stains on the ceiling, items from the audience that had fallen below the floor boards. You could actually feel a connection with the people who'd been there before it was shut away. Now we're going back into their world. From a set design point of view it was just amazing. The place had such a powerful effect on me. It was quite haunting in a way. I'm quite takne aback that a place like that just exists above an amusments on Argyle Street. It's really exiting cos I wonder if there are more places like that hidden about the place.

I was working on the collaborative today having done a lighting design for it last night. I'm enjoying working on the project though it can be stressful. I like the human contact and I think having that stimulation actually helps with my design work. Usually I'm stuck in the design room with a couple of others and it you don't feel like you get to see anyone. Alexander and Grants mugs are particularly pleasant to look at all day everyday, believe you me.

I've been working on refining my design solution and have changed it to hopefully make it a bit more simple and more atmospheric. I felt like I got alot done on paper and in my tiny head as well today so I have a fair idea how I want to build the model. I'll need to get a hold of Jamie and just check that it's cool to go ahead.
