Firday was quite a weird day for me to be honest. Everything was just quite surreal and seemed to get more so as the day went on. I came in and people were cracking up cos of the peer asessment thing. I wasn't aware the comments were to be sent to the people concerned so I hardly wrote any. I did recieve comments from the other members of the group but I don't know how valuable they were because I had goods ones mostly but I think thats mainly because I'm pals with quite a few folk in the group. One person said that I didn't show up for most of the meetings but we only had three and I attended two so that won't make me question my commitment to the project any more than I'll think I'm great because my mates gave me good feedback. I was really annoyed I had missed one of the meetings because it was the one where a lot of the decisions were made on how to go about the project and there are things that concern me about how we are approaching it as a group but that's a consequence of me not being able to make the meeting. However the positive thing is now that I am back involved in the project I am able to give it 100%. Whether others think your giving your best is not something I'm going to worry about because you need to do things for yourself and not so as to look good to others or teachers etc. On the whole the peer assesments didn't provoke any reaction from me personally, positive or negative. I was deeply concerned though about the effect it's had on other people. I think there is something far wrong when folk are coming into college to recieve anonymous personal attacks. Personality's clash and some people aren't as likeable as others but having seen some of the comments I'm astounded they were sent out. It entirley irresponsible and a little bit cruel as far as I'm concerned. People can be fragile and insecure and being told that people can't stand you isn't going to make them feel good about themselves or like they are having an enjoyable experience at the academy. Ontop of all this groups are going to be unable to work in the same way as people know whats been said about them and, it would appear also, who said what. One of the people who was devestated by the feed back they recieved told me they had been told by a lecturer who had made the comments. If this is true it's a total betrayal of trust and once again I just can't quite believe this has happened, if it has. I hope there's been some sort of misunderstanding. At the moment I have little confidence in the peer assesment process. It doesn't appear to be helpful and it also appears as if it would be daft for us as students to place any trust in the annoynimity of the process. As it stands I don't want to take part in it anymore. If I have to fair enough but I'll give everyone top marks and indentical comments.
